Progress Update

Lille Bønne has been a business with a name since July 2023, but the idea has been percolating for a looooong time.

I’ve been searching for more creativity, community, shared spaces, and play in my life for what feels like my whole life. And what I’ve found throughout this process is that I think a lot of you have been, too. Thanks for joining me and turning it into we.

love,
Abby

  • The 150-year-old church building on the corner of Abby’s street had been on the market for a few months. Long story short, Abby had the bright idea to buy the church and create Lille Bønne after joking around with her good pal Phil.

She texted her other good pal, Will (who is also her very excellent realtor), to see if he could help her buy it. He decided to really help her buy it. She wrote a business plan that night and the rest is history (in the making).

  • We spent months researching: is this a good idea? What could/should we have here? What’s a variance? Can we get enough money? Who’s going to build this? Who’s going to make the food and do the work and and and…

  • All signs pointed to yes, so Abby and her good pals Will and Phil bought that beautiful Old Danish Church on the corner.

We quickly got to work on demo, renovation plans, and the variance petition (the church is zoned residential, and we wanted to use is for something else, obvi).

  • Our variance petition passed at the zoning board public hearing! That means we have the green light to move forward with everything we’ve got planned for Lille Bønne.
